Amit Behl is a veteran Indian actor whose career spans over three decades across theatre, television, and film. He began his artistic journey in college theatre and later trained under the legendary Ebrahim Alkazi at the Living Theatre Academy in New Delhi. He rose to national recognition with his role in Shanti (1994), India’s first daily soap, and has since acted in over 100 television shows. From mythological epics like Vishnu Puran and Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat to contemporary dramas like Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki and Bindiya Sarkar, his work reflects range, consistency, and command. Collaborations with luminaries such as Gulzar, Lillete Dubey, and Neena Gupta have enriched his career, while his association with Germany’s Gripps Theatre and UNESCO’s Wolfgang Kolneder has showcased his global impact.

In film, Amit Behl has appeared in a wide spectrum of Hindi cinema including Lakshya, Bhoothnath, The Kashmir Files (where he portrayed the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir), and most recently 1920: Horrors of the Heart & Phule. Amit Behl’s stellar career has earned him numerous accolades, including the Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar for Most Versatile Actor in 2024, the Dadasaheb Phalke Foundation Award in 2024, and the Rashtra Shakti Award in 2021.He has recently been awarded a honorary doctorate by Stanford University USA,in creative vision,entertainment leadership,skilling & artist advocacy. Amit Behl has held senior leadership roles in the entertainment industry. He served as the Senior Joint Secretary of CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes’ Association) and sits on the governing council of the Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC), advising on skill development for NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). He stands at the intersection of performance, pedagogy, and policy, making him one of the few in the industry who consistently bridges storytelling with systemic contribution.
